Sheets of Play
bed linens, poultry netting, mirrors, clamp lights,
Sheets of Play is a collaborative sculpture, based on the idea of collective memory, installed in the form of a community “garden.” This garden has the potential to grow as wild as unkempt kudzu, swallowing everything it touches, or fade away as a wallflower collecting dust.
The installation explores the collective memory, knowledge and information passed down through generations, through craft and materials. Both are selected for accessibility, material properties and personal symbolism: chicken wire represents an industrial foundation and upcycled bed linens represent the intimate personal moments.
Viewers are invited to explore this garden and contribute a fabric flower to the space based on personal reflections or connections to the indoor landscape. Please use the provided materials and leave your vision of a finished blossom in the basket. Blooms and blossoms will be worked into the installation by the artist, Yvonne Christine, over the next year.
