Pinhole Photography Feature — Overgrowth Press

Yvonne's pinhole photography was recently selected for a Special Feature by Overgrowth Press, an independent publication dedicated to showcasing fiction, poetry, and photography that strives for mastery beyond mainstream trends. Overgrowth champions work that is complex, unconventional, and emotionally resonant — the kind of art that resists quick consumption yet lingers in the mind.

The feature presents handcrafted pinhole images in a custom online gallery, highlighting the slow, deliberate process of capturing light through this historic photographic method. Each photograph invites a moment of stillness and contemplation, revealing textures, shadows, and details that emerge only through patience — in both making and viewing.

Overgrowth’s mission aligns with Yvonne’s belief that inspired art deserves recognition regardless of its commercial viability. She is honored to have her work presented in a space committed to giving thoughtful, unconventional art a home.

Pinhole Studies
These images are created with a Pinsta camera—a portable pinhole camera that allows for on-site developing directly onto positive photographic paper. Each photograph is a unique, reversed image: light and shadow captured through a lensless eye and revealed moments later inside the very container that made it.
Because the image is mirrored, familiar places and objects appear slightly off—recognizable yet strange, evoking a quiet sense of the uncanny.
This process slows everything down. Exposure times stretch into minutes, and the development is done by hand, in the field. It becomes a ritual of attention and presence.
